THE NATIONS

At The Send there will be an opportunity to make a difference in 6 different areas of life. Two of them are focused on personal growth, and four are focused on making a difference around us. That way we can be a part of making long lasting impact.

6 OPPORTUNITIES

BIBLE

The Bible is the main way we get to know God and to understand what He is doing in our lives. If we read the Bible, it will affect the way we live and the influence we have on the world around us. During The Send, participants will be challenged to begin reading the Bible regularly, and to consider saying “Yes!” to one or more of the following:

In the same way as our bodies need food every day, we need to fill ourselves with a sense of meaning and hope. The Word of God nourishes our faith. On June 25th, participants will be invited to join the Bible reading plan “Sent”.

We believe that the Word of God is living, relevant and active today! We get to know Jesus better as we read the Bible. During Bible Nights we study the Bible book by book along with other people. We get to know God by getting to know the Bible. In the teaching we look at the context, the language and the culture – these reveal the depths of how the Bible speaks to us. Bible Nights were started by YWAM Oslo in 2012, and have spread to several other cities and towns in Norway. Teaching from the Bible Nights in Oslo can also be followed online. At present this is only available in Norwegian.

Going to a Bible school is an investment for life! The Send will present a variety of Bible schools with the commonality that the Bible is the priority in their curriculum. These Bible schools offer a good overview of all the books of the Bible, and provide you with tools with which to study the Word of God throughout your life.

PRAYER

Prayer means to turn our attention to God. He is present in our lives, and we can talk about everything with Him. Prayer is also about being quiet and listening to what God wants to say to us. When we pray it is easier to recognise what God is doing both in our own lives and around us. During The Send, participants will be challenged to say “Yes!” to an active prayer life. Through practicing a daily rhythm of prayer we will get to know God, His thoughts and His will better.

NEIGHBORHOODS

The mission field isn’t far away! All of us have friends and neighbors who don’t know Jesus. When Christians take responsibility together, by praying and being a positive influence in their neighborhoods, then those who live near us will see more of His love impacting their daily lives.

During The Send participants will be challenged to be actively engaged in their neighborhoods in different ways:

Pray for and share your faith with three friends, so that those who are not believers will experience God’s love.
Get involved in local youth groups so that youth can have a place where they can get to know Jesus.
If possible move to a new location to start a new youth ministry or Christian fellowship.

SCHOOLS & EDUCATION

It can be easy to think that you are the only Christian at your school. However, if we tell others about our faith we might discover that this is not the case. If there are two or three of you, then you can start a club at school or at your place of study. This can help others to get to know Jesus. During The Send, participants will be challenged to live their faith openly in their daily lives whether at school or college, and to get in touch with others who have the same goal.

CHILDREN IN NEED

We can help improve the lives of vulnerable children, both in Norway and in Europe. Through the giving of our resources and sponsoring a child abroad, or opening our homes and fostering a child, we can make the love of Christ tangible for those who are in need. During The Send participants will be challenged to help children at risk by:
Poor and abandoned children in eastern Europe need help. It is our desire for children to feel loved, receive security and the opportunity to meet Jesus. By sponsoring a child, we can give them food, clothing, school materials and caring adults who will look after them.
Some families with small children in Norway need extra help, and as a “family contact” in Home Start we can help families through the giving of our time and care.
A lot of children in Norway are waiting for a home. People who have an overflow of love can be contacted so they can find out more about opportunities to foster a child.

THE NATIONS

Everyone deserves to hear about Jesus! It is possible to accomplish this, even though three billion people have not yet heard the Gospel, and over 7,000 people groups are classed as unreached. During The Send, participants will be challenged to join in compeleting the task of evangelism. There will be opportunities for doing this through:
Join a short mission trip during the coming year and share about Jesus while getting a taste of missions.
Take a missions course so you can grow in faith and be trained to go abroad, so that more people can hear the Good News about Jesus.
Be sent as a missionary to other countries and people groups, wherever and whenever God will send us!
